Story by Stephanie Geery-Zink
Feburary 2010
At a young age, Jen Lukas-Landis learned what made her feel beautiful and empowered. And that was pin curls. “My mom put my hair up in pin curls when I was around 10,” she said. When her mom had them all pinned up to her scalp, Lukas-Landis loved the look and feel of them. The personal sense of empowerment she received from the pin curls is what ultimately inspired Lukas-Landis to start drawing the girls who make up Pincurl Girls – an initiative to help girls in middle school, high school and even adult women become empowered by encouraging them to set small goals in their own lives.
MomFinds Reviews "I Believe in Myself" Bracelets
Story by momjeanine
Feburary 2010
Every girl could use a little jingle on her wrist and Jen Landis, creator of the Pin Curl Girls, is happy to oblige. We love Landis’ beaded bracelet packs because each set comes with an “I Believe in Myself How-To Guide” to empower girls to think big and feel good while doing it. The idea is simple: start with 12 of the candy-colored seed bracelets on your right wrist in the morning, then as you think positive thoughts or do good deeds throughout the day, you move one bracelet over to the left side until both arms have a little bling action. These bracelets are great for tweens and teens, but given the great message, you might want a pack for yourself, as well.
